If you plan on testing games from your home (which is the goal of many testers), then you are going to have to have the appropriate gaming gear; a HDTV, a xbox 360, a ps3, a nintendo Wii, and a high-end gaming PC. If you don't have this gaming equipment (you really should if you are a true gamer), then your only option is to work at a game testing center -- and that's only if they'll have you.

- You do not have a resume. This is more than just a job. It's a potential career. So if you want to be taken seriously, you gotta have a game tester resume that potential employers are not going to just ball up and dunk in the trash. Ensure it LOOKS professional, details your substantial gaming experience, lists your references (if you have any), and describes why you'd be an asset to their team of game testers.

- You have inferior grammar skills. Video game testers fill out a lot of reports & forms which are used by game programmers to repair & improve video games. If the reports aren't well detailed and quickly understood, the programmers can't get the job done. If a programmer is unable to do his job, it means the tester has failed to do his.

If the 5 things in the list above aren't a problem for you, then you're certainly a candidate for professional video game testing. All that's left for you to do would be to start hunting for game tester positions in your area -- and if you know where to look, that won't take you more than a week or two!
